So I literally took a few minutes in between writing that last blog post and going back to finish the game. Unfortunately I've now published them together because I had the other one on draft for too long. But that's the life of technology. So anyways, I couldn't help myself and I went back into Super Metroid and completely destroyed this game.
Like I thought, things went down once I went to the golden statue. (I picked up more health and missile upgrades along the way, btw) The statue started blinking out, one boss at a time....
And then sank into the water...
It was a nifty cutscene, and I was presented with an elevator to a new world. The final one. This one had no secret passages, just Metroids and stupid computer-controlled laser loops that fired at random, a LOT.
By the way, I now fully understand every webcomic joke about Metroids. They are the most irritating creatures. You cannot at ALL get rid of them once they latch on, aside from entering a different room and coming back in. The trick I soon discovered was to plasma freeze them and then super bomb them. I later discovered I should have used regular missiles instead....woulda made things easier.
I forgot to get a pic of it, but I did come across a metroid MUCH bigger than the one displayed above. It attacked me and sucked my health all the way down except for one health. Then it pulled away....was....was this the Metroid I was looking for? Motherly feelings swam through me as it sadly withdrew from me. I then found health, missiles, and a save point, then it was time for the mother of all bosses...the Mother Brain.
note: getting to the mother brain proved difficult, and many retries were had due to the fact that the laser loops would drastically lower health as I took apart the obstacles getting to it. THEN it took WAY too many missiles to destroy the case the brain was in, which in turn made the boss fight impossible after. SO, I eventuall discovered you could do a whole bunch of damage to the brain, then make your way back to the missile loader and energy recharge station, then come back and the brain had the same amount of damage taken. So this is what I did eventually and I exploded the brain.
Which brought me down to a little square room to face off the evil brain with its new body. Suddenly Ninja Turtles comes to mind...hmm. So the fight was hard, namely because he/she/it had a mega move that couldn't be avoided and you had to ensure you had about 4 tanks of health left. Then it hurt me for a bit and THEN tried the move again...but I was saved by this!
My Metroid baby came back and defended me. Then it gave me all of my health back, but the Mother Brain killed it. It was very tragic. Samus got furious and I gained an even more powerful laser attack...somehow.
But hey, who am I to complain. DIE MOTHER BRAIN!
And I showed it who the real boss was. Then she proceeded to activate the self destruct (of course) so I had to boogy my way out of the planet, shooting MANY space pirates along the way *hallelujah!* and got back to my ship.
I took off into space and then the entire planet blew up. Take that you dirty Metroid-Thieving Pirates!
Another surprise was the actual number of hours I logged on the game was not nearly as much as I have been exaggerating about, haha. I had a good laugh at that.
Thus brings an end to the fun of Super Metroid. I hope you had fun journeying to the depths of Planet Zebes and defeating the Mother Brain. It was a difficult mission, but I think we all came out the better for it. Thank you all for your patience on my posting lateness.
Stay tuned for my next game announcement. Also, we still encourage game suggestions in our comments field. Don't be shy. We like comments at 16 Bit Warriors. Keep gaming gamers.

Super Metroid: Sweatin' to the Oldies
Hey Gamers. I have nothing to report on my gaming, but I just wanted to share a piece of music with you. I kept wondering why I was sweating so much while fighting the bosses in this game, cuz as far as gaming goes, I just. don't. do. that. BUT, I really listened hard and figured out that the music in this game is spot-on to the tension and suspense that one can't help but clench their cheeks when doing battle with the big-n-scaries of Super Metroid. So here is the boss music for when I was fighting Crocomire.
Super Metroid Boss Confrontation 2 (must allow Quicktime Plugin to hear)
Listen and Enjoy.

Super Metroid: Back and Kicking some Kraid!
Hey there gamers! I got back at 'er and this time with a vengeance. I decided since I was stuck the best thing to do was blast all my weapons at every piece of wall, ceiling, and floor that I could. And Eureka!!!! I got through a wall at the end of Brinstar as depicted below...Today's WTF: Greeting me with a frozen slimy grin on the other side...
I was then able to access many many more things today and have gotten much farther. First...
Metroid Tip: When you're low on Energy or Ammo, stand beside one of these pipes and just harvest the little flying bugs for all they're worth.
I originally took this next screenshot to be like "Hey gamers, what killed this guy?" Then I got murdered by that door behind me with the creepy fire-breathing eye. I eventually passed it and moved on.
I soon encountered another boss. After looking up "Super Metroid Giant Weird Lizard Thing" on google, I found out it's name was Kraid. I was much to terrified and busy fighting him to get a good pic of him, so I pulled this one off the net:
He would shoot pieces of himself out of those belly craters that would push me onto a bed of spikes, dealing loads of damage and quite frankly, ticking me off. So I unloaded all of my super missiles into his mouth and made quite short work of him actually. Then I got a fancy new suit. And by fancy...I mean more orange.
But hey, remember in my last post how I said I was stuck cuz some rooms were too hot? Not with this suit.
Metroid Tip: When stuck in lava or spikes, smashing the jump button is the opposite of helpful. I discovered that if you don't panic and hold the jump button you'll do a full jump out of danger, unlike the short jumps that get you killed otherwise.
SO I kept playing and whooping more alien booty. Then I got two more fancy shmancy tools. One was a speed boost which let me obliterate things and got me through ANOTHER stuck point AND through the hallway with the quickly shutting doors.
And not long after that, with a bit of Morph-Ball spelunking, I found the ICE BEAM! Yeah, I got pretty stoked about that. This will let me freeze enemies that are floating and indestructible so that I can get to new points of Planet Zebes that I couldn't get to before.
I will be making another post in not too long, gamers, as I'm quite hooked on this one now. Just had a lot of material to share.

Super Metroid: high jump boots...now what?
My first moment of joy came when I realized that old memories of a charge-up shot were not invented by my imagination. So, now I'm equipped with an extra-damage-giving arm cannon. Which is awesome cuz I keep wasting missiles on ceiling jumpers.
So then I moved on to find these little jerks.
If I could improve one thing about this game it would be to make it easier to get the hell out of spikey water. I had so many deaths because of that that I was ready to eat my controller. However, with a little patience I got through it and found out that my super missiles blow these guys up in a hurry. It wasn't long before I finally found these suckas:
Which made life a little easier, but then I realized that a quite a few rooms back and on a whole different level I had left areas what were too high to reach. However, I can't go back there because I've closed myself off. So then I found the next save point, here....And was doubly miffed to find that I had nowhere else to go. To the right of this save point was a dead end that I couldn't blast through, and all the rooms I could access were either too hot for my armor(or something...) or the door wouldn't open with any of my weapons. I feel like I missed something and its frustrating. There's also a room with Indiana Jones style closing doorways that I have to run through, but the second one still closes too fast. Being too frustrated to continue I have called it quits for the day and will try again tomorrow...or later tonight.

Super Metroid: Die alien vermin and space golems!

So I logged about an hour and a half on Metroid today. Most of it was spent going from my save point to the golem that's guarding the morph-ball bombs, dying, then doing it again. Finally, after I decided to stop sucking at fighting this mini-boss and use some real strategy I beat him. Then I got killed by wall-crawlies only a few rooms away, having to start from the save point all over again.
Now, about save points. I have played many games with this feature and most of them strategically place them so when you finish something really hard, you save, and you never have to face that horror ever again. Unfortunately, in Metroid, this was not the idea. The save points are more like off-the-beaten-path rooms that you have to go well out of your way to get to, so obviously you're thinking to yourself...well I have two full energy tanks, why bother saving. Oh wait, the giant plant eyeball boss is in your way!
PS: Here's my WTF of the day.
I don't know what this is about yet, but I have a feeling I'll figure it out later. As of now, it seems a bit early in the game for such huge mysteries. I might just be dumb, but I personally was weirded out by this monstrosity's appearance.
Moving along. I did defeat the giant plant eyeball thing and I felt pretty good about myself up until I discovered the super missile and promptly got killed by those little egg sacks that spit baby egg sacks. Sending back to the save point quite a ways before the eyeball thing, but (thankfully) after the killer golem. So I saved and shut the game off, and shaking off my rust before getting back into it.
Oh, and another thing. I've discovered (due to all my deaths) that Super Metroid has got to be the only game in history to have a slightly positive twist on player death...
Yes...Samus's armor explodes and you get a brief glimpse of her in her bit-sized skivvies. I personally found this weird. I pulled the image off of this guy's blog, btw. If you want more extensive information on Metroid and it's history I suggest checking it out:
Anyways. Until next time, I'll be hoping for space pirates and killing stupid ceiling jumpers.

ME0: Ready Set Game
What's the big idea? Well! To put it simply, JO3 and I will be playing all 721 mainstream released SNES games. Not just play, but BEAT. Yes, beat. As in defeat, rap, whoop, destroy, and WIN.
I know what you're thinking. When I first came up with the idea, the only question I had was...but how? Some games don't have endings, sports games are infinitely re-playable, puzzle games sometimes go on and on, and some games aren't games, but simulators. Well that's what the blog is for, gamers. When we are about to begin a game that doesn't have a definitive "ending" that's when we turn to our readers and figure out what the equivalent is. An example would be a certain sports game would require us to beat the whole league on the hardest difficulty. Cool? Cool.
So. The challenge has been made (by us, to us), and we have accepted. Today is the first day of a long long road. There will be emotions...broken controllers...bitter girlfriends...the temptation to look up cheats online, but we are going to try and be 100% honest and fun about this. If you're reading, I look forward to your input as the blog progresses. Until then, Game On!
First game on ME0's list?: Super Metroid!
I only have one thing to say for the start of this game so far.
Space Pirates? I hope I encounter them.
Metroid Fans may now proceed with the making-fun.
