Super Metroid: Back and Kicking some Kraid!

Hey there gamers! I got back at 'er and this time with a vengeance. I decided since I was stuck the best thing to do was blast all my weapons at every piece of wall, ceiling, and floor that I could. And Eureka!!!! I got through a wall at the end of Brinstar as depicted below...

 Today's WTF: Greeting me with a frozen slimy grin on the other side...

I was then able to access many many more things today and have gotten much farther. First...

Metroid Tip: When you're low on Energy or Ammo, stand beside one of these pipes and just harvest the little flying bugs for all they're worth.

I originally took this next screenshot to be like "Hey gamers, what killed this guy?" Then I got murdered by that door behind me with the creepy fire-breathing eye. I eventually passed it and moved on.

I soon encountered another boss. After looking up "Super Metroid Giant Weird Lizard Thing" on google, I found out it's name was Kraid. I was much to terrified and busy fighting him to get a good pic of him, so I pulled this one off the net:

He would shoot pieces of himself out of those belly craters that would push me onto a bed of spikes, dealing loads of damage and quite frankly, ticking me off. So I unloaded all of my super missiles into his mouth and made quite short work of him actually. Then I got a fancy new suit. And by fancy...I mean more orange.

But hey, remember in my last post how I said I was stuck cuz some rooms were too hot? Not with this suit.

Metroid Tip: When stuck in lava or spikes, smashing the jump button is the opposite of helpful. I discovered that if you don't panic and hold the jump button you'll do a full jump out of danger, unlike the short jumps that get you killed otherwise.

SO I kept playing and whooping more alien booty. Then I got two more fancy shmancy tools. One was a speed boost which let me obliterate things and got me through ANOTHER stuck point AND through the hallway with the quickly shutting doors.

And not long after that, with a bit of Morph-Ball spelunking, I found the ICE BEAM! Yeah, I got pretty stoked about that. This will let me freeze enemies that are floating and indestructible so that I can get to new points of Planet Zebes that I couldn't get to before.

 I will be making another post in not too long, gamers, as I'm quite hooked on this one now. Just had a lot of material to share.

Super Metroid: high jump boots...now what?

So I've been at this for a couple hours today and I think I'm stuck. 

My first moment of joy came when I realized that old memories of a charge-up shot were not invented by my imagination. So, now I'm equipped with an extra-damage-giving arm cannon. Which is awesome cuz I keep wasting missiles on ceiling jumpers.

So then I moved on to find these little jerks.

If I could improve one thing about this game it would be to make it easier to get the hell out of spikey water. I had so many deaths because of that that I was ready to eat my controller. However, with a little patience I got through it and found out that my super missiles blow these guys up in a hurry. It wasn't long before I finally found these suckas:

 Which made life a little easier, but then I realized that a quite a few rooms back and on a whole different level I had left areas what were too high to reach. However, I can't go back there because I've closed myself off. So then I found the next save point, here....

And was doubly miffed to find that I had nowhere else to go. To the right of this save point was a dead end that I couldn't blast through, and all the rooms I could access were either too hot for my armor(or something...) or the door wouldn't open with any of my weapons. I feel like I missed something and its frustrating. There's also a room with Indiana Jones style closing doorways that I have to run through, but the second one still closes too fast. Being too frustrated to continue I have called it quits for the day and will try again tomorrow...or later tonight.
